How to read this page

Everything below is live. Each component is shown the way a visitor meets it on the real site, followed by a short note: the concept it serves and the features it carries. Nothing here is a screenshot — touch everything.

Concept

A temple is recognisable before its doors open. The shell is the fixed layer injected on every page: the Kara mark at left, the menu at right, a hairline scroll-progress thread, and the communion orb bottom-right. It lives outside the page-transition container, so music and menu survive every chapter change.

Where the menu & orb live

The header — Kara lockup logo, hamburger toggle and the cinematic fullscreen menu — is the native YooTheme header, editable in Customizer ▸ Header / Dialog / Widgets ▸ Dialog. The communion orb is fixed site chrome — rendered once, outside the page, so it persists through every transition. Both are on this page right now: the logo and toggle top-right, the Hold to Commune orb bottom-right are the live components. They are not embedded here a second time — one chrome, one behavior, everywhere.

Features — menu & orb

• Fullscreen cinematic menu in three columns; links glide in on a stagger.
• The orb: hold to commune (ring fills over a breath, the Darbar opens already singing); tap to toggle.
• Scroll progress renders as a gold thread at the viewport top.
• Menu + orb + overlay never reload between pages (swup-safe).

Concept

Before content, a bow. The opener is a full-viewport ritual that asks for a gesture — a hold, a tap, a stillness — and only then releases the page. It is the site’s threshold: nothing auto-plays, nothing skips the hand.

Features

• 15 selectable rituals (One String, Nine Doors, Five Rivers, Mala, Echo of Naam, Rabab, Phul, Path of Light…).
• Plays once per visitor, remembered site-wide; editors can force it per page.
• Gurmukhi invocation + English line + gesture hint, all in the identity type.
• Honours prefers-reduced-motion with a still threshold.

Concept

Each concept is a full homepage built on a single metaphor — a breath, a stage, nine doors, five rivers, one string, word-water, lamps, a constellation, the sangat, amrit vela. The gateway below is the real navigator used to walk between them; one concept (Breath) follows it, live.

Features

• Gateway renders all ten doors with Gurmukhi numerals and hover resonance.
• Every concept is a canvas engine (concept.js) with its own gesture and communion reveal.
• Each ships as its own builder element (manika-concept-*) so any page can borrow a language.

Ardas Wall

Concept: a prayer is not sent, it becomes light. Features: type an intention, hold, and a flame joins the wall; seeded flames breathe; stored only in the visitor’s browser — nothing leaves the hand.

Hukam of the Day

Concept: one line from the Guru, identical for every visitor, chosen by the date. Features: server-side selection (works without JS), Gurmukhi + English + Ang, quiet reveal on scroll.

Pahar — the Living Clock

Concept: the day divided into eight watches, as the old clocks kept them. Features: a real-time dial; between 3 and 6 the watch turns gold — Amrit Vela.

Countdown

Concept: the next darbar is always coming. Features: live countdown to any event date; flips to “the darbar is open” when the hour arrives.

Mala Counter

Concept: one bead, one breath. Features: tap the ring to count; completes at the chosen bead count with a quiet blessing; remembers the count per visitor.

Shabad Pangti

Concept: the word as it was sung, line by line in a row. Features: Gurmukhi, transliteration and English set as one pangti; reading glow follows the scroll.

Gurpurab Ribbon

Concept: the sacred calendar as a season ribbon. Features: annual or one-off dates resolve to their next occurrence; the nearest observance burns brighter.

Ik Scroll Seal

Concept: the page ends the way a granth is closed — with a seal. Features: the Ik Onkar draws itself in a single stroke as it enters the viewport; small or large.

Concept

Music on this site is not a widget; it is a room you enter. The tracklist is the door: every row, seek result and album button loads the same queue and opens the fullscreen Darbar overlay.

Features

• Gurmukhi + English lyric pairs, the sung line kindling gold and gliding to centre.
• Real audio with byte-range seeking; virtual mode keeps the liturgy alive while masters arrive.
• Hold-the-orb entry, tap toggle, keyboard entry; nothing auto-plays.
• Queue survives page transitions; ended tracks hand over without a seam.
• Track 1 currently carries the generated demo drone — revertible in one command.

Concept

Film enters the darbar without bringing someone else’s controls with it. The vendor engine mounts only at the first hand; until then, a poster and a gold sigil.

Features

• Letterbox bars extend on play; controls fade after stillness; hairline gold seek; fullscreen.
• Vendor SDKs (YouTube / Vimeo) load lazily, only on first play.
• Poster-first: no network cost and no autoplay, ever.

Concept

A gallery should behave like memory — images arrive slowly, leave slowly. Frames open a fullscreen veil; photographs drift on an 11-second breath, films play in place, a gold thread keeps the place.

Features

• Ken Burns drift alternating direction; cross-fade veil; index + thread.
• Video frames play inside the veil; “breath” advances every 7s.
• Arrows, ← → keys, Esc; Gurmukhi caption over English.

Concept

Books on the shelf should open in the same room they live in. The reader veils the page in darbar dark, pages with gold arrows and keys, and keeps your place on a thread.

Features

• PDF: page navigation via hash (#page=N), zoom ±, page thread — no external library.
• TXT/MD: fetched and paginated into breath pages with a fade between them.
• Shelf cards keep their old behaviour (cover + link) when no file is set.

Quote & Manifesto

Concept: the voice is an invitation, never a claim. Features: oversized Cormorant quote with a gold tail, Gurmukhi watermark, optional attribution; the manifesto variant sets one gold phrase alight inside a longer breath.

Statistics

Concept: proof, quietly. Features: tabular numerals that count up on first sight; labels in tracked Montserrat; optional background image behind the row.

Presence

Concept: one photograph, held like a portrait in a darbar. Features: full-bleed image with a dark scrim, Gurmukhi side-note and caption; the photograph breathes on scroll.

Albums

Concept: each record is a room with its own light. Features: cover, year, track hooks; play buttons deep-link into the communion queue; alternating layouts.

Tour & Events

Concept: kirtan is meant to be shared. Features: date rows with hover gold; events pull from the mk_event CPT; an honest empty-state line when the road is quiet.

Seva

Concept: the music continuing as hands. Features: cause cards from the mk_seva CPT with progress toward each goal.

Archives

Concept: a darbar keeps its papers. Features: ledger-style rows with Gurmukhi watermark; items expand into their collections.

Seek Engine

Concept: seek and you shall find — a mantra, a word, a feeling. Features: searches all track lyrics (Gurmukhi + English) live; results deep-link into the player at the matching line.

Connect & Global

Concept: the door back out to the world. Features: booking/press contacts with management line; social links as gold hairlines; the global strip carries the brand into any footer.

Hero & Chapter

Concept: even an ordinary page opens with a bow. Features: hero sets a full-bleed photograph under a dark scrim with a tracked prefix and gold italic; the chapter element (used as every header on this page) numbers and titles any section in the same voice.
